Mike Voelkel — Oakland, MD — Garrett Orthopedic Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation

Mike Voelkel PT, CMPT, LLCC

Mike is a 1979 graduate of St. Mary's high school in Annapolis, Maryland, where he played both football and lacrosse. He graduated with an AA degree from Anne Arundel community college and went on to the University of Maryland at Baltimore medical school, and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy in 1984.

Following this, he worked in various settings, including rehabilitation, acute care, shock trauma, home health, and eventually wound up finding his love in orthopedic rehabilitation. He became clinical director from 1990-1992 for Chesapeake Pain and Rehabilitation, before moving to Western Maryland and becoming director of physical therapy at Garrett Memorial Hospital. During this period of time, Mike also began teaching courses in physical therapy and at local colleges.


He was the co-founder of GOPT, which opened its doors in 1998 and has now moved to its current location across from the Walmart in Oakland. He has received numerous teaching awards and recently received his manual therapy and dry needling certification, along with his daughter, Sarah, a physical therapist in Frederick, Maryland. His specialties include orthopedic manual therapy, osteopathic techniques, dizziness and imbalance, spinal pain, and problem-solving difficult cases.


When not at work, he can be found on the farm homesteading, working in the garden, building anything with stone, woodworking, golfing, fishing, hunting, kayaking, and enjoying his children and, most recently, his grandchildren.

Carol Voelkel — Oakland, MD — Garrett Orthopedic Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation

Carol Voelkel PT

Carol is a graduate of Towson high school class of 1979. She participated in field hockey, basketball, lacrosse, and track. Following this, she began her college career at Delaware University, receiving her physical therapy degree in 1983 with Cum Laude acknowledgment.


Over her career, Carol has worked in a variety of situations from acute care, to nursing homes, to home care, to rehabilitation settings and outpatient physical therapy.


Carol's areas of expertise include joint rehabilitation, geriatric care, neurological problems, women's health and general rehabilitation.


When not at work, Carol enjoys working on their farm, gardening, biking, reading, traveling, and spending time with her children, and her grandchildren.

Holly Warne — Oakland, MD — Garrett Orthopedic Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation

Holly Warne OT

Holly is a 1994 graduate of Mount Savage High School (now Mountain Ridge). She graduated with her Masters of Science degree in occupational therapy from Shenandoah University in 1999.


She began her career at Garrett Rehab Services in Oakland, Maryland, as the lead occupational therapist working in outpatient, inpatient, subacute, and home health services before advancing to the Director of Rehabilitation, in which she oversaw physical and occupational therapy services. She then moved on to become the Director of Rehab at Heartland in Kingwood, West Virginia, leading a multidisciplinary team of 10 staff members. She joined the staff at Garrett orthopedic physical therapy in 2016 as an OT specializing in pediatrics, hand and upper extremity rehabilitation, geriatrics, and stroke/ADL rehab. In the near future, she plans to pursue specialties in vision rehabilitation.


When not at work, she enjoys spending her spare time with her husband and two teenage daughters. She loves to be her girls' biggest cheerleader on the sidelines with all the activities they are involved with in high school. When not at games, she can be found outdoors with anything that involves hiking, biking, skiing, and of course, shopping.

Tracy Rush — Oakland, MD — Garrett Orthopedic Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation

Tracy Rush PTA

Tracy is a 2006 graduate of Southern High School. She then went on to college and received her degree in business administration with a concentration in marketing from Frostburg State University in 2011.


After several years of working in the community, she decided to go back to school. She received her AA degree from the Allegany College of Maryland Physical Therapist Assistant program in 2016.


Tracy's clinical interests include orthopedic rehabilitation of any kind, pediatrics, and sports medicine.

When not at work, Tracy enjoys sports, hiking, skiing, and photography.

Steven Holtschneider — Oakland, MD — Garrett Orthopedic Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation

Steven Holtschneider PT

Steven is a graduate of Northern high school's 2011 class. He was a three-sport athlete and went on to play soccer at Potomac State University and transferred to West Virginia Wesleyan, receiving his bachelor in exercise science in 2015.


Steven earned his doctorate in physical therapy from Marshall University in 2018. His interests are in the athletic population, spine injuries, knee, and hip pathology. Steven is certified in the LSVT Big and Loud program for Parkinson's disease. Steven is also certified in dry needling.


He is happily married to his wife Taylor and, when not at work, enjoys playing golf, soccer, and in general, enjoys being active.

Andrew Moser — Oakland, MD — Garrett Orthopedic Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation

Andrew Moser PTA

Andrew is a 2014 graduate of Northern high school. He then followed this at Allegany College of Maryland and received his associate's degree as a physical therapist assistant in 2017.


Andrews's areas of interest are sports medicine, joint replacements, and balance difficulties but in general enjoys treating a wide variety of different diagnoses.


When not at work Andrew is an assistant coach for Northern high school's boy’s soccer, and enjoys hunting, biking, golf, and basketball.

Amanda Sody PTA

Amanda is a 2003 graduate of Southern High School. She graduated from Allegany College of Maryland in 2019 with an associate degree in applied science and gained a license as a Physical Therapist Assistant.


After graduating high school, Amanda took a hiatus from school and worked in the community. She took an interest in physical health and became a fitness instructor/ personal trainer. Through her work in a local gym, she found a passion working with people and helping them achieve their goals.


 Amanda enjoys a variety of diagnosis, such as pediatrics, sports medicine, and women’s health. When she is not working, Amanda loves spending time with her children and significant other. She also enjoys spending time outdoors and staying physical active in various ways.
